I started walking dogs a little over a year ago, and it has been such a blessing to meet so many incredible dogs and their owners. From retired show dogs to rescue dogs to service dogs in training, I’ve worked with a whole gamut of breeds in various shapes and sizes. With each new paw I shake, it never ceases to amaze me that I’m very fortunate to be doing something I absolutely love.
While I personally haven’t worked with any of the rescue groups in Minnesota, I have nothing but the utmost respect for what they do. And I love that so many people are adopting dogs through local rescues. I hear so many say that their rescue dog ended up rescuing them. Which is exactly how I feel about my line of work, and it’s made me realize that I want to get involved with rescues and shelters in need.
Building a bond with an animal is nothing short of a humbling experience. Every day, I learn new things about myself and that’s all you can really ask for in life. If you’re not growing, you’re not thriving.
