The love people have for their pets (and vice versa) never ceases to amaze me. So many people treat pets as family, and I’m humbled to be a part of that through my work with clientele.
Not only do I get a snapshot into the lives of each family, but I’m welcomed into their homes with open arms, and trusted in their family member’s care.
As with everything in life, it’s the little things that bring the most joy. In the last week, I’ve heard several anecdotes that touched my heart in some way.
One client sent me a photo of their two small female dogs sitting at the kitchen table with a caption saying, “Do you notice how the girls rate at our house? We decided to let them sit at the dinner table for family dinner.”
Another client shared with me how she cradles her dog and tells him stories while he gazes longingly at the squirrels and chipmunks in the backyard until he falls asleep in her arms.
If you follow this blog or any other Modern Dogs’ social media, you’ll remember Rocky and Badger. Badger welcomed his mom home by sitting on her lap for 25 minutes, staring directly into her eyes the entire time.
And of course there’s this dog who is all over the interweb this week after passing out when he sees his owner after two years.
Walking into a love-filled home and being greeted by one of my furry clients makes me love what I do, but when I feel as though I’m an honorary secondary member of a client’s family, that’s a feeling I can’t quite put into words. Amazing is the adjective that comes to mind, but that would be an understatement.
